How do you align your people strategy with the overall business goals of your organization?
UM: Understanding Business Priorities and Translating Them into Talent Needs is of paramount importance. To align people strategy, we make every attempt to first understand the organization’s vision, growth targets, and the annual operating plan (AOP). The AOP is arrived at in consultation with all the business leadersvis-à-vis the vision and the strategy of the organization. We in HR then build a ground-up view of the human capital required to meet the requirements of the organization with every business leader. HR asks the relevant questions to ensure there is a complete understanding of the numbers, roles, and career paths for the people. This is also our chance to know what jobs could be done by people with special skills, the kind of educational qualifications required, talent capabilities, workforce structure, and leadership needed to meet these objectives.
