Sonata Software Limited has appointed Balaji Kumar as its Chief Human Resources Officer, effective 14 March 2026 . The company has filed the necessary regulatory disclosures with both the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited.
He will be responsible for the company’s global People and Talent function from its Bengaluru corporate office.
Before this appointment, Kumar served as CHRO at One97 Communications (Paytm).

His career spans multiple prominent organisations across various sectors, demonstrating extensive leadership experience in human resources management. His deep expertise in labour law, talent management and organisation development signals a renewed focus on strategic HR leadership to support the company’s growth and global workforce management.His legal background and prior stint at Sonata are likely to enhance continuity and governance in HR practices, which may be viewed positively by investors, employees and other stakeholders looking for stability in leadership and scalable people processes.
Kumar has also worked with L&T Infotech, Larsen & Toubro, Microsoft, Murugappa Group, Citibank, Coca-Cola and Unilever. He holds degrees from TISS and has a master’s in law.
