Indian Women’s Skill confidence increases, stress level decreases at workplace

Findings from ADP’s ‘People at Work 2025: A Global Workforce View show encouraging progress in workplace experiences for women in India, with improvements in stress levels, skills confidence and employer support for career development.

Key insights from the survey include:

  • The proportion of female employees in India experiencing stress at work every day fell to 9% in 2025,down from 11% in 2024
  • The share of women reporting low stress (once a week or less)has also increased significantly from 47% to 61%.
  • Workforce confidence has also seen a significant uptick within the female populace, with the share of female employees who strongly agree they have the skills needed to advance to the next job level in the next three years increasing from 24% in 2024 to 40% in 2025.

  • Employer investment for upskilling is improving for women: 37% of women strongly agree that their employer invests in skills needed for future career advancement, up from 21% last year.
  • The proportion of women holding more than two paid jobs declined from 39% in 2024 to 29% in 2025, suggesting improved financial stability and stronger engagement in primary employment.

While progress is encouraging, sustained progress depends on organisations continuing to create environments where women have access to opportunities, learning, and support at every stage of their careers. Embedding equitable growth opportunities, flexibility, and upskilling will be key to ensuring that progress leads to long-term workforce participation and greater leadership representation for women.”
