Calcutta Management Association Presents the CMA Management Academic Excellence Awards
The Calcutta Management Association (CMA) presented the CMA Management Academic Excellence Awards 2025 at a special ceremony held at Topaz Hall, Hotel Hindustan International (HHI), Kolkata, as part of NSHM Business School’s 4th International Management Conference.
The awards were instituted to honour exemplary contributions by academicians in teaching, research, institutional development, student engagement, industry-academia collaboration, ethical standards, and lifelong service to the Management academic community.
On behalf of CMA the dignitaries present to confer the awards included Indranil Banerjee, President, Vibhor Tandon, Vice President, Dr. Rana Bandyopadhyay, Chairperson Academia Connect Sub Committee & EC Member, Gautam Mukhopadhyay, EC Member, Ina Bose, EC Member, Amrita Tapader, EC Member, and, Suvendu Narayan Roy, Member, Academia Connect Sub-Committee.
The award nominations were evaluated by the CMA Academia Connect Sub-Committee, comprising Dr. Rana Bandyopadhyay, Gautam Mukhopadhyay, and Suvendu Narayan Roy.
The ceremony opened with a welcome address by Vibhor Tandon, Vice President, CMA, and Gautam Mukhopadhyay, Executive Committee Member, CMA, who extended greetings to the awardees and distinguished guests.
The following academicians were honoured with the CMA Management Academic Excellence Awards 2025:
1. Excellence in Teaching & Pedagogical Innovation – Prof. Saptarshi Purkayastha, IIM Calcutta
2. Excellence in Research & Publication – Professor (Dr.) Madhumita Mohanty, IISWBM
3. Excellence in Institutional Development & Academic Leadership – Prof. Soma Sur, Xavier Business School
4. Excellence in Student & Community Engagement – Dr. Udit Chawla, IEM Kolkata
5. Excellence in Industry-Academia Collaboration – CMA (Dr.) Jharna Dutta, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
6. Excellence in Demonstrated Ethical & Professional Standards in Academia – Dr. D.P. Chattopadhyay, Globsyn Business School
7. Lifetime Achievement Award – Prof. Sitanath Majumdar, Calcutta University
During the ceremony, Dr. Subir Sen, Principal, NSHM Business School, felicitated Indranil Banerjee, President, CMA, acknowledging CMA’s continuous efforts in strengthening academic-industry partnerships and recognising excellence in management education.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Indranil Banerjee, President, CMA, who expressed gratitude to NSHM Business School for hosting the maiden awards ceremony, the Academia Connect Sub-Committee for their thorough evaluation process, and the distinguished awardees for their invaluable contributions to the academic community. He specially mentioned Dr. Nilanjana Sinha, Associate Professor of NSHM Business School, for driving the whole management academic awards concept. He also thanked the Executive Committee Team of CMA, including the former Presidents of CMA, with special mention of Prof Asok Kr Banerjee, a former President of CMA, for his invaluable inputs and advice for structuring the award framework.
