Organisations need to move beyond conversations
Driving positive mental health should be the responsibility of every manager in a company, not just the HR department. This includes initiatives like offering additional consultation and managerial support to those who need it and regularly reaching out to employees to boost their morale.

During covid pandemic turmoil, most people have been through isolation, depression and anxiety, which are certainly going to reflect in their work attitude. How HR should address this challenge?

SA Conversations surrounding mental health need to be normalized as part of the work culture of the organization. This is the most important lesson any HR department can take away from what we are observing from the pandemic. It is a safe assumption that the anxiety employees are facing today stems from the uncertainty of their future. As human resource managers we need to open channels of dialogues to address these concerns, as this crisis is not just a business crisis, it’s a human issue.
