On 30th December 2025, the Ministry of Labour & Employment pre-published the draft (Central) Rules, under all four Labour Codes, explaining the compliance processes, marking a next step in bringing India’slabour laws into a uniform statutory process.

The draft rules set out the mechanics of minimum wage fixation, payment, and permissible deductions, clarifying how minimum daily, hourly, and monthly wages will be calculated — notably by dividing daily rates into hourly equivalents and adjusting for a week of work. The rules also outline timely wage payment standards, emphasising that all workers, across all sectors, are entitled to a statutory minimum wage.
The draft rules bring clarity on minimum wage fixation, timelines for wage payments, and calculation of daily and hourly wages, providing long-awaited certainty for organisations employing part-time and shift-based workers.
