OpenAI announced the appointment of Arvind KC as its new Chief People Officer (CPO), marking a key leadership addition as the company accelerates its global expansion and workforce growth.
In his new role, Arvind KC will be responsible for leading OpenAI’s people strategy, including talent acquisition, employee development, organisational design, and workplace systems. The appointment comes at a time when OpenAI is rapidly scaling its teams to support growing demand for artificial intelligence research, products, and enterprise solutions.
OpenAI said KC’s mandate will go beyond traditional human resources functions. He will focus on building people systems suited for an AI-driven workplace, helping teams adapt to new tools, evolving job roles, and changing ways of working. The company emphasized that strong people operations are critical to sustaining innovation while preserving OpenAI’s culture and mission.

Commenting on the appointment, Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications at OpenAI, said that as AI reshapes how work is done, organisations must rethink how they hire, develop, and support their employees. She noted that KC’s experience in scaling teams at leading technology companies makes him well-suited to guide OpenAI through this phase of growth.
Arvind KC brings over two decades of experience across technology, operations, and people leadership. Prior to joining OpenAI, he served as Chief People and Systems Officer at Roblox and previously held senior roles at Google, Meta, and Palantir Technologies. His career spans engineering, IT, information security, and organisational leadership, giving him a blend of technical and people-centric expertise.
In a statement, KC said he is excited to join OpenAI at a time when organisations worldwide are being challenged to rethink how work happens in the age of artificial intelligence. He added that OpenAI has a unique opportunity to model how companies can responsibly and effectively build teams alongside rapidly advancing technology.
