EXPERIMENTS AND EXPERIENCES IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Reading a biography or an autobiography is fairly common among book lovers. Inspiration, motivation, encouragement and learning from are the usual objectives of such habits. Imbibing the lessons drawn out is the aim plus.

This book under review, authored by well-known educationist VRK Prasad, is quite different in the sense that it speaks about the part of the author covering a period of twenty-five years of his career life out of a total of more than fifty years of service life. To that extent, one could even call it “second career graphy”.

It starts with bidding goodbye voluntarily to his flourishing army career lasting over twenty-seven years, and later with the telecom industry for a few years before foraying into higher (management) education, where he had spent the last 25 years. The book narrates his experiences or even few experiments, little different from the conventional and the resulting impacts. His student management skills make an interesting reading. His administrative acumen and strides made eleven university projects see the light of day across the country. His penchant for the critical need of HRM in the education sector resulted in bringing out a large number of books, publications and talks, etc, in various forms apart from receiving his doctoral honours for his thesis.. A chapter is exclusively devoted to this concept in the book.

Finally, the book brings out one lesson that “anybody can do anything” provided one has the will to learn and possesses that ‘bash n regardless’ attitude’. An accomplished author, this book is his fifteenth in a row.
The simple book is quite likely to be of great help to teachers in general and to management faculty in particular.
