HR: Three Decades of Change - or Just Change in Name?
Despite thirty years of evolution in titles, programs, and visibility, core challenges such as fear, monotony, attrition, compliance pressures, and productivity expectations remain largely unaddressed.

Over the last thirty years, Human Resources (HR) has undergone multiple transformations. Personnel functions evolved into Personnel Administration, then HR, Employee Relations, Business Operations Consulting (BOC), and now strategic CHRO-led frameworks. Modern HR is visible in every corner of an organization-from recruitment to compliance, training to employee engagement. Programs like HR at Your Doorstep and various employee wellness initiatives suggest evolution.

However, despite these cosmetic and structural changes, the core challenges remain unchanged. HR professionals are still caught in the same cycles of manpower planning, recruitment, employee monitoring, compliance enforcement, and productivity promises to management. While titles and processes have shifted, the fundamental pressures and frustrations of HR work remain strikingly consistent.
