How does HR help in shaping a work ethos that supports business agility and long-term growth?

AP: In every organization I’ve served – from the foundational years at Tatas to transformative roles at Reliance – I’ve seen one truth remain consistent: culture eats strategy for breakfast. HR is not merely a steward of compliance or engagement; it’s the architect of the ethos that fuels agility and growth.

At the Tata Group, as a Senior Manager in the mid-80s, I was involved in multiple business unit integrations. What made these successful wasn’t just the process-it was the people. We embedded a “fail-fast-learn-faster” ethos before it became a buzzword. By enabling younger talent to lead pilot projects with the freedom to fail, we saw agility surge without sacrificing quality.
